About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineer role provides a structured career path from Engineer I through Engineer III, with increasing responsibility, technical independence, scope of influence, and strategic impact. This position supports the planning, optimization, and execution of manufacturing and assembly processes for precision hydraulic and aerospace components.
At Ausco, Inc., Manufacturing Engineers partner closely with Operations, Quality, and Engineering to improve safety, quality, cost, and delivery. Engineers are encouraged to grow from hands-on process support into advanced technical leadership roles supporting complex systems, equipment, and manufacturing strategies.
Key Responsibilities
The scope of duties expands with each career level, as outlined below.
Common Responsibilities — All Levels
- Support manufacturing and assembly processes including machining, deburring, grinding, assembly, and special processing.
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, routings, and drawings.
- Design production tooling, fixtures, and aids using CAD.
- Support implementation of Engineering Orders and design changes.
- Analyze production issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Participate in root cause and corrective action activities.
- Support process audits and compliance with procedures and standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, and Engineering.
- Provide timely feedback to management on production and process issues.
- Balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Level-Specific Responsibilities
Manufacturing Engineer I
- Work in a support role on manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Assist with creating and maintaining work instructions and routings with guidance.
- Support tooling and fixturing design under supervision.
- Assist with new product or project implementations.
- Support shop floor layout and equipment placement activities.
- Assist with inspection and quality issues related to manufacturing.
- Participate in audits and corrective action activities.
- Work on projects and tasks of limited complexity.
Manufacturing Engineer II
- Independently create and maintain work instructions and routings.
- Review, evaluate, and implement Engineering Orders.
- Design and implement tooling and fixtures to support production.
- Provide cost-reduction input across manufacturing processes.
- Conduct time and cost studies for internal and customer-facing activities.
- Review nonconforming material and contribute to corrective actions.
- Solve real-time production problems with limited guidance.
- Optimize shop floor layout, workflow, and workforce utilization.
- Support audits and ensure process conformance.
- Work on projects with moderate to high complexity.
Manufacturing Engineer III
- Lead advanced planning and optimization of manufacturing processes.
- Independently create, review, and standardize manufacturing documentation.
- Provide in-depth cost, efficiency, and process improvement analyses.
- Serve as technical owner for specialized processes and/or equipment.
- Manage implementation of new equipment or processes from concept to production.
- Determine buy/make decisions for parts, tools, and equipment.
- Conduct detailed time and cost analyses to support business decisions.
- Participate in and lead internal, customer, and industry audits.
- Provide advanced technical guidance in machining, CNC programming, and manufacturing methods.
- Collaborate with programmers to optimize CNC program efficiency.
- Support oversight of shop floor layout and production flow.

Qualifications & Experience
All Levels Require
- Working knowledge of CAD, SolidWorks preferred, and Microsoft Office.
- MRP/ERP experience, Infor Visual preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and solve complex problems.
- Customer-focused mindset and attention to value-added activities.
Additional Requirements
- Flexibility to support production needs outside normal business hours.
- Compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Travel as required for training, audits, or business initiatives.
Compensation & Career Growth
- Salary range: $70,000.00 – $130,000.00 annually.
- Career progression from Manufacturing Engineer I to Manufacturing Engineer II to Manufacturing Engineer III.
- Candidates may be considered for higher or lower levels based on experience and demonstrated value.
