About the Role
The Quality Engineer role provides a structured career path from Junior Quality Engineer through Quality Manager, with increasing responsibility for product quality, process effectiveness, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and Quality Management System (QMS) performance.
Quality Engineers partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customers to ensure products and processes comply with ISO 9001, AS9100, and customer requirements, while driving continuous improvement and risk reduction across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
The scope of duties expands with each career level.
Common Responsibilities — All QE Levels
- Support and improve product and process quality in accordance with ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9102, and customer requirements.
- Document nonconformances and participate in root cause and corrective action activities.
- Support manufacturing, inspection, calibration, and engineering as required.
- Participate in internal audits, customer audits, and third-party audits.
- Review and support First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Support new product introduction and change implementation.
- Maintain and improve quality metrics and reporting.
- Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
- Ensure quality activities add value to customers and the business.

Level-Specific Responsibilities
Junior Quality Engineer
- Work in a support role on quality and process improvement activities.
- Assist with documenting nonconformances and corrective actions.
- Support customer RMAs and internal issue resolution.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing FAIRs.
- Support calibration system activities and recordkeeping.
- Assist with process documentation validation, including PS, AWIs, and Lessons Learned.
- Participate in internal audits with guidance.
- Work on tasks of limited complexity under supervision.
Quality Engineer
- Independently manage nonconformances and corrective actions using structured RCA tools.
- Review and approve process documentation and inspection plans.
- Participate actively in customer interactions and audits.
- Support supplier quality activities and selection processes.
- Conduct risk assessments and support PFMEA development.
- Review Engineering Orders and process changes.
- Analyze quality data and recommend process improvements.
- Work on projects of moderate to high complexity.
Senior Quality Engineer
- Serve as technical quality authority for products and processes.
- Lead root cause investigations using 5-Why, 8D, and similar methodologies.
- Interface directly with customers regarding quality issues and field failures.
- Act as customer quality representative for source inspections.
- Lead quality aspects of new product introduction.
- Approve EOs, process routers, inspection plans, and FAIRs.

Mentor, coach, and train new hires and colleagues to build capability, reinforce best

collaboration and positive interactions across the team. - Drive preventative action and risk reduction strategies.
- Work on the most complex quality issues with broad business impact.
Quality Manager
- Maintain and lead the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Serve as Management Representative for ISO 9001 / AS9100.
- Lead registrar, customer, and internal audits.
- Plan, conduct, and review Management Review meetings.
- Establish, monitor, and improve quality KPIs.
- Oversee corrective action system for effectiveness and timeliness.
- Manage supplier approval, monitoring, and delegated source requirements.
- Lead quality strategy, documentation control, and compliance initiatives.
- Support senior leadership with quality system reporting and planning.

Qualifications & Experience

- Travel as required for training, audits, or business initiatives.
Compensation & Career Growth
- Salary range: $60,000.00 – $150,000.00 annually.
- Career progression from Junior to Quality Engineer to Senior Quality Engineer to Quality Manager.
- Candidates may be considered for higher or lower levels based on experience and demonstrated value.
